ABOUT

I am a Postdoctoral Associate at the MIT Sloan School of Management with the Institute for Work and Employment Research and Work and Organization Studies.

I am an interdisciplinary organizational scholar working at the intersection of policy, organizational behavior, human resources management and industrial/employment relations traditions. Woven throughout my approach to research and teaching is my commitment to highlighting often-overlooked perspectives in research, practice, and policy.

Broadly, my research focuses on exploring the concept of voice and draws from an integrated approach to voice by looking at voice behaviors, organizational arrangements of voice and broader voice systems. My research aims to link voice at different levels (collective, organizational, and individual) to well-being for individual workers and to improved organizational outcomes.

I enjoy teaching and have demonstrated success in the classrooms with MBA, MPP and PhD students. My goal in the classroom is to create collaborative and psychologically safe learning environments that both challenge students to think critically and to apply this new knowledge to real-world experiences.  Students have described my teaching style as “kind, knowledgeable, and thought-provoking,” which truly captures the spirit of my what I bring to the classroom.

My work brings together my experiences in policy, practice and research focused on promoting community well-being in Massachusetts. I currently serve as a Commissioner on the Massachusetts Community Behavioral Health Promotion and Prevention Commission and as a critical incident  (trauma) responder for different communities across Massachusetts.

These experiences led me to a career as a Public Health Social Worker supporting families across different communities in Massachusetts. Later, as a mid-level manager in a health system, I realized that families were not the only ones who needed support. I then turned my attention to improving the quality of work-life for frontline health care workers. These experiences shape my approach to research, teaching and service, and inspire my passion for creating healthy workplaces and communities.

I received my Ph.D. from the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, hold an MSW/MPH from Boston University and an AB in Anthropology & Psychology from Mount Holyoke College. I love contemporary art, poetry, being in nature and reside in the Boston area with my spouse, 2 kids, and a bunch of pets.
